I provide a full-service mastering experience designed to take your music from the studio to the world without the guesswork. Every standard stereo mastering project is fixed-price and all-inclusive—I don’t believe in charging extra for the essentials. When you book a session, Apple Digital Masters (ADM) certification, Alternate Edits and Stem Mastering are included as standard, ensuring your sound is optimised for every platform from the start.

Master from Separates

Refined during the engineering of the SAMA-nominated The Cradle of Art by Black Motion, this approach offers the highest degree of sonic control. By treating the mastering process as a hybrid "final mix," I can ensure your tone is preserved while fixing any monitoring inconsistencies from your production space.

As South Africa’s first Dolby Atmos mastering facility, we provide high-fidelity Spatial Audio that meets the rigorous delivery specifications for Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music. Our hybrid workflow combines the precision of digital object-based mixing with the tonal character of a world-class analog chain.

Vinyl Mastering

Engineered for the Needle, Crafted for the Collector.Vinyl is a physical, mechanical medium with unique technical limitations. Unlike digital formats, a vinyl record has “physical boundaries”. We provide specialised Vinyl Pre-Mastering to ensure your music translates safely and sonically to the lacquer disc while preserving the feel.

Des Grey Mastering is a private, acoustics-first facility in Johannesburg, utilizing a proprietary analog-hybrid chain (Manley, Crane Song, SSL) and monitoring by Vivid Audio for uncompromised Stereo and Dolby Atmos precision.

We utilise a bespoke hybrid approach; you are paying for my taste, not just the boxes 🙂 Whether a slick ‘in-the-box’ chain or world-class tube processor is used, you can be sure that no compromises were made. Your music goes through exactly what is needed to bring out the best in your sound.
