Des Grey is a mastering engineer based in Johannesburg, South Africa. As the founder of Des Grey Mastering, he operates the country’s first dedicated 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and Stereo mastering facility, featuring Vivid Audio monitoring and analog processing from Manley and Crane Song.
Recognized for his technical excellence, Des earned a SAMA31 nomination for Best Engineered Album for Black Motion’s The Cradle of Art. His portfolio includes multiple SAMA-nominated projects for iconic artists like Ayanda Jiya, Dr Duda, plus work for Mi Casa, Keinemusik and Desiree to name a few.
He is a specialist in the sonic “feel” of South African genres including 3-Step, Amapiano, Afro-house, Gospel, Hip Hop, House and Pop.
